What. A. Week.

Whew.

It's been a doozy of a week.

Let me share a few nuggets of wisdom I gleaned from the last seven days.

Have a Plan B when going out of town and leaving a spouse at home with your child/children.

Why? Because let's just say it's last Saturday night, and you're at a wedding 2 1/2 hours away.  Your husband calls at 11pm to let you know he can't stop throwing up.  There's a 240% chance the baby will be up in the middle of the night.  You know you won't make the drive home awake because of this.

A list of folks to call in a pinch would have been helpful.  Instead, your rock-star, nauseated husband handled the baby and his puking all night by himself.  He then ended up needed two IV's the next morning because of dehydration.

Purchase refundable airline tickets.

Why? Because when you are supposed to fly out Monday morning to a wedding that your husband is officiating and he has been puking non-stop and hasn't been able to stay awake for more than five minutes, a little flexibility in your travel schedule would be helpful.

Unfortunately, when yours isn't and it is going to cost $700 per ticket to change your flight,  you pray hard that you will not to have to carry Brian and the baby onto the plane.

When trying to leave for a flight and you have already showered, don't hold the baby upright against you after he just finished eating.

Why? Because he will puke all over your head.  And you will have to take another shower.

When packing a carry-on for the flights and you have an infant, it's a good idea to bring a change of clothes.

Why? Because there is a chance he will have diarrhea mid-flight that ends up all over your pants and the plant seat.

I'm just guessing.

Not that it happened to me or anything.

When traveling with a baby, it's a good idea to have him sleep in a pack-n-play before the trip.

Why? Because otherwise, he'll refuse to sleep in it and scream like a banshee everytime you put him down.

You will bargain with God in hopes that the 14th time you lay him down will be the one where he'll stay alseep.

You will curse loudly in your head when it isn't.

You will end up holding him.

All. Night. Long.

The Garden of the Gods in Colorado Springs is where you should get married.

Why? Because this will be your backdrop.

Having a father-in-law who is a nurse is quite helpful.

Why? Because when your amazing mother-in-law, who is taking care of the baby while you are at the wedding festivities, starts throwing up non-stop, you'll need someone to take care of her and hold the baby at the same time.

And that man claims he's not "good" with babies.  But we sure saw differently this week.  Paw-Paw had some sweet moments with our little guy. :)

LOVE Colorado.

But man, is it GOOD to be home.
